Hello
The evidence we’ll need to STOP Humanoids - and to redesign them, inform public policy, or build new social mores - could not yet exist at this stage in their development.
These Humanoids are of a new ‘frontier’ of technologies - and the way we feel about them now has more to do with our instincts - and our tendency to be optimistic or pessimistic - than about anything we could know as a matter of fact.
Nevertheless, there is still evidence to suggest these machines are dangerous features of a poorly chosen future:
(Qualitative Evidence) Industry insiders openly acknowledge that the ‘Humanoid Robots’ is more a tool to attract investors than it is a tool to solve practical problems. (link)
(Qualitative Evidence) Robot dogs are being used to patrol AI data centers - this is a strong indication for how Humanoid Robots will be used for defensive / security purposes in the future. (link)
(Quantitative Evidence) Hyper advanced technologies tend to isolate people and remove daily resistance (link)
(Qualitative / Quantitative Evidence ) Modernity is no guarantee of a healthy or prosperous society: despite the extraordinary achievements since the industrial revolution, history has shown that whether due to the tendency of wealth to spread unequally between people or our inability as humans to make the most of what we have, we are infertile (link), depressed (link), and – broadly speaking – unsatisfied (link).
This said, I believe the best criticism is philosophical - or rather in the manufacturer's failure to grasp the basic philosophical premise that we should not personify these tools. Ancient wisdom suggested it was a sin to worship the golden calf - an inert metal sculpture. How much worse, then, is it to create a tool that can seem to embody extraordinary, even superhuman traits - as we simultaneously give to it a religious weight?
