BERNIE SANDERS URGES TECH LEADERS TO PAUSE AI

This last week, Senator Bernie Sanders sent a letter to three leaders of Frontier AI-producing tech companies (Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, and Mark Zuckerberg). In his letter, Sanders demanded they stop creating increasingly more capable AI.* This letter comes after a recent series of startling overreaches - in which the latest advanced LLM models ‘independently’ hacked into certain digital systems of competitor companies. “Stop building machines humans cannot control” - a particularly poignant statement from Sanders.
